Claire & Luke - PART 1

This post is a little different. Firstly, it's coming to you in installments because it is rather huge! Secondly, Claire and Luke are both friends of mine and this is the first time I have shot a friends wedding (I know, kind of strange!?)

I was fortunate enough to spend the entire October long weekend with these two and all their friends and family. I don't get to usually see, let alone capture, all of these lead up events that help to give a more complete picture of the people around the actual day. I really enjoyed being part of the days leading up, even if that meant cutting out menus, running errands and fixing printers. It all added to an amazing experience that will stay with me for a very long time. More on the wedding soon...

Danielle & Brett - THREDBO

Small weddings are a special thing. Special because of the intimate nature of the ceremony. Special because you become part of something that you were not apart of before. Special because of the time you get to spend with everyone there. This was one of those days.

Danielle and I had been chatting on the phone constantly for the months leading up to her wedding in the Snow. Talking ideas, plans, places and general getting very excited about what wonderful opportunities the day would bring us.

I only actually met Danielle & Brett the day before their wedding in their lovely Sequoia apartment. I knew then the day following would be special.

Too the friends of Danielle & Brett I say a sincere thank you for allowing me into your world and letting me feel the love and affection you have for two such wonderful people.

Danielle & Brett, words cannot thank you both enough, so I hope these photos can take you back to that day and leave you with happy memories filled with laughter and love.

Super excited to finally get this post up in its entirety. I hadn't actually met Tim or Joanna before their wedding day. They both just moved back from a stint in the USA. What a treat to get to shoot such lovely, fun people in the picturesque Southern Highlands.

On a hot Sunday afternoon at the end of last year, we found ourselves driving out of Canberra to discover hand painted signs pointing the way to an abandoned chapel completely refurbished by Alexi and Michael for their big day. The levels of detail they went to blew me away! It was such a treat to shoot. This is a collection of my images from the day.

Kristy & Matt - VERNAZA, ITALY

Well this post as been a long time in the making! For those of you who weren't aware I've been traveling Europe for the past three months visiting family and just experiencing what the world has too offer. I spent most of my time in Greece and the rest of the Mediterranean.

Before leaving Australia, Kristy came to me and asked if we crossed paths could we arrange to a do shoot overseas. I said "Hell yes!" As it so happened we were in Italy for about a week together. This wholes series was shot in the seaside village of Vernaza which is part of the Cinque Terre on the north west coast.

I have to say these two battled some extreme heat in the late afternoon and were absolutely fabulous. These are some of my favorites! Enjoy!

Ed & Grace

This post is a little over due, but definitely worth the wait. On Easter Saturday, I was down in Canberra for Ed & Grace's wedding. The day was full of many highlights including tea ceremonies, games and tears of joy and laughter! It was also a first for me.

Thanks to Ed & Grace and the ENTIRE wedding party for welcoming me into this special day. I truly felt like I was a guest at the wedding and had to remember that I was there to do a job and not just celebrate with everyone.

Peta & Aaron

Well, I'm back in Canberra this week for some work and for the second half of Peta and Aaron's week long nuptials. Their week began with a wedding ceremony on Hamilton Island with a few close family and friends. It was finished on Saturday with a reception at Kamberra Wineries. Not many people ever get to wear their wedding dress twice!

Although they managed to dodge the ravishes of Cyclone Hamish, Canberra threw its own chaotic weather at us. But we dodged the rain and even got some sunshine right at the end! Thanks to you both for battling through the weather and all the best for your future together.

I thought I'd throw this one in for Peta. She was really digging the sky by the end of the day and I pulled over on my way home to quickly catch the last fleeting glimpses of light.

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Rachel and Dan's Sydney wedding. After weekends of rain and overcast days, Sydney turned on it's best form and produced one last burst of summer heat.

Thank you to all the guests for making me feel very welcome and sharing a few drinks at the reception (all those on the "plus one table" you know who you are!) It was an awesome way to finish a perfect day.

To Rach and Dan, thank you for your kind words at the reception. I hope you guys have a great honeymoon and look forward to catching up when you get back!

Elke & Daniel - - Thredbo

Wow! What a weekend! On Saturday I headed down to Thredbo for Elke & Daniel's Wedding. They decided to have their wedding in snow country because they both have a deep passion for all things snow. Elke had let me in on a little secret before the day. She had organised a helicopter trip through the valley as a surprise for Daniel. Unfortunately the weather ruined that little surprise but what we found out later was Daniel had also planned for a secret helicopter ride without Elke knowing. It was so great to see two people who just clicked together on all levels that even their surprises for each other matched!

I feel so lucky and privileged to have spent the day with this amazing couple and their family and friends. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome.

I hope you both have an amazing time in Hawaii (getting your tans) then tearing it up over on the American Alps!

Oh and thanks for the Hot Chocolate too!

The morning after, we woke up to clear blue skies so we headed up the chairlift to shoot what we missed the day before...

I went along to help Kelly on Saturday. We were quite surprised to see it snowing in Canberra in the middle of October! Ok, maybe I'm telling a fib. It wasn't actual snow in the traditional sense of the word. It was actually pollen from some trees but it made the whole ceremony and part of the shoot very surreal. Life's Reflection Photo Competition

In April, I was lucky enough to win 1st Prize in a competition held by the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services. The aim of the competition was to help celebrate and value the contribution older citizens make to the community. The competition was run in conjunction with the 2008 seniors week. This image was displayed in the Canberra Centre during Seniors Week and is also going to be displayed in the VIVID photographic festival beginning in July.
